Kohler is a manufacturer of kitchen and bath fixtures, furniture, small engines and portable power systems. We will tour the pottery, brass, foundry and enamel shops which are located in buildings that recently received a historic designation. We will also tour the design center featuring various ideas on how to use their products in your home.

This Wisconsin Electric power plant receives unit trains of Powder River Basin coal from the Union Pacific. These cars are unloaded by car dumper. Come watch the process and tour the plant. The city of Kenosha's new street car line runs from the lakefront to the Metra commuter station. Take a ride and visit the repair and maintenance facilities.

See a Made in America manufacturing operation and check out trains at the Franklin Park freight yard. Join us as Badger Air Brush Company hosts a tour of its Franklin Park manufacturing facility. There will be no airbrushing or airbrush clinic on this tour. We would leave Milwaukee about 9:00 AM, arrive at Badger around 10:45, tour until about noon, eat lunch until 12:45 PM, go to freight yard at 1:00, stay as long as everyone wants (no later than 3:00) then head back up. It will be a full day.

With 12,000 employees and $2 Billion in annual sales Quad is the largest privately held printer in the nation. They primarily print magazines such as Newsweek and Scientific American as well as catalogs and other commercial products. Kalmbach uses them to print Model Railroader, Trains and Classic Toy Trains as well as other magazines they produce. Most if not all of their plants are served by rail. We will tour the Sussex plant and the three private railroad cars owned by Quad.

Circus World Museum located in Baraboo WI where Barnum & Bailey Shows started has the world's largest display of original circus wagons and vehicles including RR cars and circus acts and attractions. The Mid-Continent is a Golden Age of Steam railway museum and has various operating steam engines and the world's only restored "fish car". A train ride on vintage equipment is inlcuded in this tour.

Surface equipment is used for coal, copper, iron ore, oil sands and other minerals while underground is primarily for coal. Equipment types include mining shovels, walking drag lines, and rotary blast drills which are shipped disasembled by rail.  Vulcan Materials is the nation's leading producer of construction aggregates primarily crushed stone, sand and gravel. The Racine Quarry is one of 30 locations owned by Vulcan and ships 30 railroad cars of crushed stone and gravel a day.Come and watch the loading and departure process. CNH Case New Holland is a world leader in the manufacture of agricultural and construction equipment. We will visit the Racine assembly plant that makes the large agricultural Maxxum and Magnum tractors which are shipped predominately by rail. You will see complete assembly including transmissions, robotic painting, windshield and tires being mounted, and the drive off the line.

Visit America's largest railroad museum containing over 375 pieces of motive power and equipment from various midwestern railroads, electric railways and transit systems. There are train and bus/trolley rides available on this very large site located in Union Illinois.

The railway operates on 7 original miles of Milwaukee Electric Railway & Light Company trackage. Visit this volunteer run museum and shops and ride on its vintage equipment. The line interchanges with the Wisconsin Central at Mukwonago and still hauls some freight today. It has a roster of 21 vehicles.

Avalon Rail Inc. is a rebuilder of passenger rail cars including commuter, stainless, heavyweight or antique. They do everything from repairing wrecks to complete rebuilds and perform AMTRAK inspections. They are located in a 60,000 foot building on the historic Allis-Chalmers grounds and are served by the UP.  Rexnord represents the most comprehensive portfolio of power transmission and conveying components in the world with brands like Falk, Rexnord and Link Belt. Come see large scale machining and manufacture at its best. Many components of manufacture are shipped by rail. This tour requires long pants, hard soled shoes, hard hats and safety glasses,

This modern wire mill located in Saukville WI takes scrap metal delivered by CN, melts it in an electric arc furnace, then pours it in a continous casting process to form billets which are then rolled into wire forms. This tour requires long pants, hard soled shoes, hard hats and safety glasses.

Hard hats and safety glasses will be provided.

Located in Green Bay the RR museum boasts a collection with over 70 cars and engines including UP Big Boy 4017 and a Pennsy GG1. The Maritime museum has the World War II fleet submarine USS COBIA (SS-245) and a host of maritime models and displays. Before going to Manitowoc cruise by Lambeau Field the home of the Packers.

Founded in Milwaukee in 1903 by William Harley and Arthur Davidson in a 10 x 15 wooden shed, the Harley-Davidson Motor Cycle company has become world famous. Come and tour one of the manufacturing plants then go the new Harley Davidson Museum which just opened in 2008.
